About Us
Jesus told us to pray, “Your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”…
At Calvary, we long to see God’s Kingdom breaking into our lives, our church and our local community. Picture a place where healing happens, burdens are lifted, hope is restored and love is the norm.
With God’s help, we’re on a journey to see this become a reality. Join us for lively worship, accessible bible teaching, faith-filled praying and real conversations and acts of kindness that bring a taste of heaven to earth.
Come as you are, and let’s reimagine life together!

What we believe
At Calvary Baptist Church, we believe in one God, existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, whose love and grace are evident in creation and throughout history. The Bible is our compass, divinely inspired and trustworthy for life and faith.
We see immense value in every person, created in God's image, while recognizing our universal need for redemption. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human, is at the heart of our faith. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers us a path to reconciliation with God.
Our community is energized by the Holy Spirit, who transforms lives and nurtures our spiritual growth. We cherish the equality of all believers, each uniquely gifted to serve. Together, we're on a mission to worship God and share His love, making disciples as we go.
At Calvary, you'll find a place where faith is lived out, questions are welcomed, and everyone has a role to play in God's unfolding story. Come join us as we explore these truths and their impact on our lives and world.

Our History
Our church's journey began in 1960 when a small group of nine believers gathered in homes, fueled by a shared faith and a desire to connect with God. With the support of Bethel Baptist Church in Sechelt, they transitioned to a rented United Church building, which they eventually purchased.
In 1964, we moved to our current location on Park Road, marking a significant step in putting down roots in the community. By 1962, we officially became Calvary Baptist Church, welcoming new members and expanding our mission.
Throughout our history, we've faced challenges and changes, but our commitment to faithfulness and hospitality has remained strong. We've celebrated milestones like our 25th and 50th anniversaries, reflecting on God's goodness over the years.
Today, our longing to see God move in Gibsons drives us forward. Our prayer remains the same: “May your Kingdom come and may your will be done - in Gibsons and on the Sunshine Coast - as it is in heaven!”
