HOPE

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows—light! Sunbursts of light!” (Isaiah 9:2, The Message)

Reflection time

  1. Read it slowly
Read this verse a couple of times, savouring the words. What phrase catches your attention?

  2. Think about it
What does it feel like to imagine “sunbursts of light” breaking into darkness?
Is there a place in your life, or the world, that feels like it’s still in deep shadows? How does this verse speak to that?

  3. Talk to God

Thank Him for sending His light through Jesus.

Share with Him the areas of life that feel dark or uncertain.

Ask for His light to bring new hope to those places.

  4. Rest in the promise:
Close your eyes and picture the light of Christ breaking into the shadows. Let that image fill you with hope and encouragement.

  5. Something to Think About
Where do you see God’s light breaking through in your life or your surroundings?
How can you carry this light of hope to others this week?

Further Reflection:

"Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!" (Romans 15:13, The Message)
