LOVE

“This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9, The Message)

The Return of the Prodigal Son” by Rembrandt

Reflection time

  1. Read it slowly
Let the words wash over you. What word or phrase feels especially meaningful?

  2. Think about it
How does Jesus’ birth show us the depth of God’s love?

What does it mean to “live through Him” today?

  3. Talk to God

Thank Him for loving you so much that He sent His Son.

Ask Him to help you reflect that love to others in your actions and words.

Bring to Him any relationship where you need His help to love more fully.

  4. Rest in the moment

Look at the image above - of the Father embracing his (prodigal) son. Close your eyes and imagine God’s love wrapping around you like a warm embrace. Let it renew and refresh you.

  5. Something to Think About
How can you share God’s love with someone this week?

Who in your life might need to experience His love through you?

Further Reflection:

"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life." (John 3:16, The Message)
