Where am I swimming?

Passage: Acts 17:22-28 Preacher: Laura Nelson

QUICK RECAP

On Sunday as we explored the nearness of God’s kingdom.

The kingdom of God isn’t something far away or only in the future—it’s here and now. We live, move, and have our being in God’s presence, just like fish in water. But how often do we, like Homer the fish, adapt to life outside the water? We can get so caught up in other kingdoms that we forget we’re created to swim in the fullness of God’s love.

God’s kingdom calls us deeper—not to stay in the “lobby” but to explore all He has for us. Through prayer, Scripture, worship, and stillness, we can open our hearts to His love and let it shape our lives.

So - where are you today? Are you scooting in the dirt or swimming in God’s presence? Let’s step into the fullness of His kingdom this week, seeing Him in every moment and letting His love transform us.

God’s kingdom is here—let’s not settle for less!

5 QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER

These questions are designed to help you dive a little deeper into this topic. They're not just for your head, but for your heart too, so take your time with them. Maybe grab a coffee, find a quiet spot, and really let them sink in.

  1. Where do you see evidence of God’s kingdom in your everyday life? Take a moment to reflect on situations, relationships, or even small moments where God’s presence feels near.

  2. Are there “other kingdoms” in your life—distractions, priorities, or habits—that pull you away from fully experiencing God’s presence? What steps can you take to re-center your life around Him?

  3. How can you move beyond just “checking in” with God? Think about specific ways to deepen your relationship with Him this week—whether through prayer, reading Scripture, or simply being still in His presence.

  4. What does it look like for you to “swim” in God’s love rather than “scoot in the dirt”? Consider how you might invite God into your work, family life, or other daily activities.

  5. What is one way you can actively open yourself to God’s kingdom today? Maybe it’s through showing love to someone, finding joy in creation, or trusting Him in a challenging situation. How will you step into His presence?
